How Strong Is PPF Protection?

The first scratch hurts the most. Forget about scratches with invisible PPF films that preserve your vehicle’s original paint and gloss.

Paint Protection Film (PPF) protects your vehicle’s paint from scratches, parking door impacts, stone chips, road salt, sand and everyday road damage while keeping it looking brand new.

By installing PPF films, you reduce the need for expensive repairs and repainting, keeping your vehicle looking like new for years.

Ultimate Paint Protection

PPF films provide superior protection for your vehicle’s paint against scratches, stains and road contaminants such as insects and dirt.

In case of scratches, the damage remains on the film while your vehicle’s paint stays protected. When needed, the film can simply be removed or replaced with a new one. Quality PPF films feature self-healing technology activated by heat, allowing minor scratches to disappear on their own.

PPF is an optically clear polyurethane film with excellent durability and flexibility. In addition to protecting the paint, it enhances the vehicle’s gloss and overall appearance. PPF films are also available in a matte finish.

PPF films differ in several key factors that directly affect the level of protection and durability:

Material: PPF films are available in PVC and polyurethane versions. Polyurethane films offer a higher level of paint protection thanks to their superior durability, flexibility and longevity.

Film Thickness: Ranges from 100 to 290 microns. The thicker the film, the greater the protection and the harder it is to break through.

Self-Healing Technology: Allows the film to regenerate minor scratches when exposed to sunlight or heat.

Hydrophobic Top Coat: A finishing layer that repels water and dirt, makes vehicle maintenance easier and helps preserve a clean, glossy appearance.

Black Glass offers exclusively polyurethane self-healing PPF films, available in 3 different thicknesses. Each thickness is available with or without a hydrophobic top coat.

Self-Healing PPF Films

High-quality PPF films feature self-healing technology, which means the film does not need to be replaced when minor scratches occur. Self-healing films are capable of repairing themselves when exposed to sunlight or warm air, allowing minor scratches to disappear on their own. In many cases, simply parking the vehicle in the sun is enough.

High-quality PPF films are manufactured using advanced HydroGard™ technology. In addition to self-healing properties, these films also feature a hydrophobic top coat that improves durability and resistance to dirt and contaminants. The innovative hydrophobic polymer top coat helps repel oil, tar, insects and road grime, preventing contaminants from bonding to the film’s surface and extending the film’s lifespan.

Paint Protection Film Installation Process

PPF films are most commonly installed on new or freshly painted vehicles to protect the paint from scratches and damage from the very beginning.

Paint protection films can be installed as a full vehicle wrap or partially on high-impact areas most vulnerable to damage, such as the hood, mirrors, bumpers, fenders and door edges.

High-quality PPF films are optically clear, creating an invisible layer of protection. When professionally installed by trained and certified installers, the film preserves the original clarity and high-gloss appearance of the paint.

Maintaining PPF films is simple — wash, clean and wax your vehicle just as you normally would.

More Ways to Protect Your Vehicle

In addition to protecting your vehicle’s exterior, Paint Protection Films are also used for the following applications:

Interior Protection: Paint Protection Films are an excellent solution for protecting your vehicle’s interior from wear, scratches and fingerprints. These films are applied to glossy interior trim pieces and vehicle screens that are prone to damage.

Headlight Protection: Headlights are highly exposed to damage, which is why it is recommended to protect them as soon as possible. In the case of older headlights, polishing should first be performed to restore clarity and gloss, followed by the application of headlight protection film.

Windshield Protection: A special type of protective film is designed for windshields. This film protects against scratches, stone chips and other mechanical damage while reinforcing the glass and reducing the risk of cracking.
